ROAD TRIP

We love the convenience of online shopping. There are a few things more satisfying than buying a sack of cement online from the comfort of your office and having it delivered to your building site next day. But online shopping does not always suit us. When sourcing finishes or exposed construction elements we prefer visiting our suppliers and picking the right products.

By visiting our suppliers we ensure that we pick the right products for our clients, but we also strengthen our relationships with our supply chain. And let us not forget, it is a great way to be up to date with the latest products, fashions and it is always a great source of inspiration to sparkle our creativity.

Yesterday we visited our preferred reclaimed brick yard, our favourite timber saw mill and one of our timbre flooring suppliers. We were sourcing bricks to build a side extension, so we need to match the existing bricks, external cladding for the extension and timber flooring.

Matching bricks is always tricky, so we did not leave any brick unturned! We need to find the right brick to please our client but also the neighbours and Planning officer. After going through piles of bricks we managed to shortlist our three candidates. Let's hope we have a winner among them!

Our favourite saw mill is in the country, surrounded by trees. It was drizzling by the time we arrived, which intensified the calming smell of the place. The smell of the wet forest joined the smell of the cut timber to create the perfect autumnal essence! It was hard to leave the place, but after selecting three samples (two cedar and one larch) we went back on the road.

Then off to the flooring showroom. We were pleased to see the completion of the showroom extension! After chatting with Darren and congratulating him for the expansion of his showroom we picked the samples that matched our client's brief and we drove back to London with a car full of bricks and timbers.

Our excellent suppliers provided us with free samples of our chosen products, this way our clients can select their preferred options without the need to travel. We took the samples on site, so our clients could see and appreciate them in context and with the relevant light.

It was a very productive and enjoyable mini road trip!!
